Roberto Simonutti

Professor of Polymer Science and NMR at the University of Milano-Bicocca, he is head of the PoSyLife group and works with a vast network of national and international research teams and companies to develop new ideas in polymer and materials science. His network includes the Berkeley Labs, the Max Plank Institute and the IIT. Prof. Simonutti’s research focused on the following topics: 1) study of morphology and polymorphism in olefin-based polymers and copolymers by solid state NMR and time domain (TD) NMR; 2) formation and characterization of polymeric nanocomposites with structural and functional properties; 3) synthesis of block copolymers via controlled radical polymerization for applications in the field of nanomedicine; 4) characterization of cross-linking in elastomers by TD NMR. He published more than 100 peer reviewed papers with H-factor of 28 and more than 3000 citations. The research activity was funded by several competitive regional and national grants and by contracts with Italian and European companies.

Michele Mauri
Postdoc at the University of Milano-Bicocca in the field of polymer and materials characterization, with a strong focus on their applications, he has been working for several years at connecting academic research in materials science and the R&D requirements of companies. Since his PhD in Nanostructures and Nanotechnologies, he performed several postdocs in Italy and abroad, and published more than 40 scientific paper, including high impact journal such as Nature Photonics and Chemical Science, as well as working as referee for journals in the materials science field. Activities relevant to nanomedicine include the use of electrospun peptides for neural regeneration scaffolds the preparation of funcionalized nanoparticles based on iron or manganese as functional MRI contrast agents. He is also cofounder of spin-off companies G2P (Glass to Power) and Graftonica.
